Dear Anthony:
This letter is in response to your request for additional information concerning my major
permit for bulkhead replacement. I am noting the reasons for my bulkhead alignment
request as they were explained to me by the representatives at the Elizabeth City CAMA
Office. My drawing indicates a request to start the bulkhead on the North end by going
out and connecting to the furthest point out of the existing bulkhead for the neighboring
property. This would eliminate the comer between the two properties. The corner is
southwest facing, is subject to prevailing wind, and collects waves that causes consistent
over wash that pounds the steep sloping bank on the north side. The over wash is causing
continual erosion of my property and the adjoining property. Aligning the new bulkhead
with the adjacent existing erosion control structure will minimize future erosion issues in
the north corner.
Extending the new bulkhead in a straight line southward to connect with the existing
bulkhead will eliminate the second corner that is approximately 37 feet to the south. This
comer is also a source a wave focus that contributes to the elevated over wash for
westerly waves.
Enclosed are pictures of the referenced corner for your consideration.
