Everything looks good except for a few small issues: Please correct the following: - General MDC 4 – Please provide calculations showing that the riprap at the outlet of the proposed SCM is adequately sized top prevent erosion during the 10-year design storm. It is noted that the riprap sizing specifications are provided on plan sheet 7, however the calculations appear to be missing. - Sand Filter MDC 2 – Sand Filter MDC 2 requires that the provided storage volume in the sand chamber and sediment chamber be equivalent. Per the provided information, the sand chamber has a provided storage volume of 780 cf and the sediment chamber has a provided storage volume of 3,336 cf. Please revise the design and submittal materials as needed. NOTE: The other aspects of the sand filter design were acceptable with regard to the MDCs. - Application, Section VI, 8 – The percent impervious area of the entire project area does not appear to be calculated correctly (it should correspond to the %BUA as shown in the Entire Site Column of the Drainage Area Page of the Supplement-EZ Form, not the %BUA of the drainage area to the SCM). - Supplement-EZ Form: o Cover Page:  Lines 7-10 – Please complete these items. It is noted that there are no surface waters located on-site, however, Line 7 should still list the required with of the vegetated setback in this part of the State (30’). The other items can be “N/a” if they are not applicable. o Drainage Areas Page:  Entire Site Column, Lines 4, 19, 20, & 21 – These items are not required for the entire site column.  Drainage Area 1 Column, Line 20 – Please use the adjusted WQV (3,403 cf) for this value (since that is the volume that must be provided in the sand filter). You may add a note to this item indicating that this is the adjusted WQV and include the unadjusted WQV value if you like. o Sand Filter Page:  Line 5 – Please answer this item. It refers to the side slopes of the vegetated slopes of the SCM.  Line 18 (Optional) – You can express this item as “<553.5’” since the SHWT was not encountered above this elevation, but this change is not required since you explained this in the provided note (The provided notes are appreciated).  Line 31 – The “bottom” of the sand chamber is not the excavated bottom of the sand chamber, but rather the top of the sand layer (or in this case, the top of the #89 aggregate on top of the sand layer, 557.8’).  NOTE: Lines 23, 26, 30, & 32 will also need to be modified in accordance with the earlier comments. While not required, the following revisions are recommended: - Reduce the side slopes of the bypass ditched to no more than 3:1. This will help improve the stability of the ditches in perpetuity and will allow for easier maintenance of the ditches (most ride-on lawnmowers cannot traverse slopes steeper than 3:1). 1 Please provide the following: - 1x hard copy & 1x electronic copy of the riprap sizing calculations. - 1x hard copy & 1x electronic copy of the revised page of the Application. - 1x hard copy & 1x electronic copy of the revised Supplement-EZ Form. - 1x hard copy (2x hard copies of plan sheets) & 1x electronic copy of any submission items impacted by the Sand Filter MDC 2 comment. Hard copies should be mailed to me at the following address: For FedEx/UPS: Jim Farkas 512 N. Salisbury Street, Office 640E Raleigh, NC 27604 For USPS: Jim Farkas 1612 Mail Service Center Raleigh, NC 27699-1612 Hand Delivery: Please reach out to me prior to hand delivering a submission to make sure that I (or someone else in my group) will be able to receive the submission. Do not leave the package in the foyer with the security guard. NOTE: Hard copies should not be sent to a Regional Office. Doing so will delay the review process and the submission package may be lost while being sent from the Regional Office to me in the Central Office. Electronic copies should be uploaded at the following location: https://edocs.deq.nc.gov/Forms/SW-Supplemental-Upload Since these are really minor things, once I get the hard copies, anything else that may have changed from addressing these issues, and the documents are uploaded to Laserfiche (Provided everything is still in order), we can issue the permit without doing another formal 45 day review.
