PERVIOUS GRAVEL REQUIREMENTS PER NCDEQ
Number 57 Stone — Criteria
An area of Number 57 stone (as designated by ASTM) shall not be counted
as built -upon area if it meets all the following criteria:
1. The 57 stone is not mixed with other aggregate material;
2. The 57 stone is laid at least four inches thick; #57 Stone
3. The 57 stone is laid over a geotextile fabric;11
4. The 57 stone and geotextile fabric is not placed on top of an impervious material, such as cEush-
and-run or asphalt;
5. The 57 stone area does not use an underdrain system that discharges without treatment;
6. The geotextile fabric is permeable and comprised of non -biodegradable textiles; and
7. The soil on which the 57 stone will be placed (subgrade) will not be mechanically compacted
prior to installation.

1. Pre construction meeting with surveyor, grading contractor, owners and Engineer.

A meeting will take place involving all parties involved in the construction process.
The storm water plans will be discussed, as well as the sequence
and BMP?s to be in place before, during and after construction.

2. Temporary Gravel Construction Entrance/Exit—Practice 6.06 BY OTHERS
The site is currently served by a gravel access which will be utilized during the construction of
the proposed
parking area.
3. Land Grading — Practice 6.02
Filling of the of the proposed area can be started to assure a uniform slope from the edge of
the
existing parking and landscaped areas to the property line. The grade should be sloped toward
the property line and away from the existing gravel parking area. All organic matter such cs root mat
shall be removed and the fill shall not be compacted. If the fill gets somewhat compacetd during
placement
the area shall be disced prior to the installation of the filter fabric.
7. Construction of Buildings
Construction of buildings will proceed to the point where heavy equipment will no
longer be needed.
4. Placement of Filter Fabric and #57 stone.
Filter fabric shall be placedon top of the uncompacted subgradeper the manufacturer's specifications.
A minimum of 6" of clean wahsed #57 stone shall be placed on top of the filter fabric. At no
time
shall the minimum depth of #57 stone be less than 4".
9. Landscaping
Landscaping elements shall be installed per the plan and the requirements of the Town of SLrf
City.
