Dear Ms. Arellano,
Following up our recent meeting on August 1, 2022, regarding July 29th, 2022, correspondence from
CovationBio this office agrees with the following three items to be provided by Kinston site:
1. One-time sampling and analysis of monitoring wells (MW-10, MW-11, MW-17A, MW-21, MW-
52, MW-20, MW-22, and MW-25) for acrolein and ALL parameters in condition A. (2.) of
current permit
2. One-time sampling and analysis of PFAS compounds (see the list below) in process wastewater,
stormwater, and groundwater/leachate separately prior to release to the wastewater treatment
plant, as possible.
3. One-time sampling and analysis of PFAS compounds (see the list below) in all NPDES
wastewater including existing and proposed outfalls.
PFAS compounds:
• PFBA • PFNA • PFOS
• PFPeA • PFDA • 6:2 FTSA
• PFHxA • PFDoA • 8:2 FTSA
• PFHpA • PFBS • HFPO-DA
• PFOA • PFHxS
The analysis should be done for the PFAS compounds with EPA's draft method 1633. The analysis
should be done by a certified laboratory similar to those required by NPDES permits pursuant to 40

CFR 136. It is sufficient that sampling data from monitoring wells be reported with an accompanying
GW-59 Groundwater Quality Monitoring Report Form for each sampled well along with attached
copies of laboratory analyses and submitted to the following addresses.

Submittal of new NPDES renewal package would not be necessary, and providing the above -mentioned
information is deemed sufficient. Considering the situation and per CovationBio's request, this office
allows sixty (60) extra days to provide additional information.
