On August 1, 2022, Alex Lowe of the DWR Winston-Salem Regional Office conducted a routine
pretreatment compliance inspection of the Town of Mocksville's pretreatment program, as run by
Envirolink, Inc. Piedmont -Metro Area Manager Josh Powers was present throughout the inspection to
assist Mr. Lowe.
Mocksville's pretreatment program elements were all up to date and available for review. The
headworks analiysis submitted to the State in January 2022 is still under review. The next assigned
update for any pretreatment program element is the industrial waste survey, which is due on June 30,
2024.
This program consists of only one SIU, Brakebush Bros. Inc, which is a chicken cooking and
packaging facility. A review of the SIU files indicates that Brakebush has had some compliance
concerns in the past 12 months, with repeated violations of both flow and BOD. Monthly monitoring
reports are submitted by the SIU to Envirolink in an effort to ensure compliance, and all of these
records were available for review upon inspection. The most recent six month period showed three
violations, two in March and one in April 2022. A Notice of Violation was assigned for each of these
exceedences.
Records for this program were properly maintained and well organized. No instances of permit
non-compliance were uncovered during this inspection. This program is considered satisfactory.
