RE: 2007 Annual Operating Report
Groundwater Remediation Permit No. WQ0014357
Aberdeen Pesticide Dumps Site - Route 211 Area
Aberdeen, North Carolina
° Dear Mr. Pozzo:
On behalf of Syngenta Crop Protection, Inc. and Olin Corporation, please find enclosed one copy
of the 2007 Annual Operating Report for the groundwater extraction, treatment and discharge
system located at the Route 211 Area of the Aberdeen Pesticide . Dumps Site. Information
provided in this letter report includes:
• Site layout (Figure 1) and analytical monitoring requirements summary (Table 1);
• Influent and effluent analytical results summary (Tables 2 and 3);
• Monitoring well analytical results summary (Table 4);
• Completed copies of NCDENR Division of Water Quality, Groundwater Section form GW-
59 and analytical laboratory data reports (Attachment 1).
The treatment system was inspected monthly, and influent and effluent samples were collected)
semi-annually (June 22, 2007 and December 4, 2007) in accordance with the permit. These
results are summarized in Tables 2 and 3. The treatment system performed as designed during
2007 and experienced minimal downtime. The system operates 24 hours per day, and a total of
1,553,305 gallons of groundwater were treated during the reporting period (January 2007 to
December 2007). Groundwater extraction rates averaged approximately 3.0 gpm or 4,256 gpd
during the monitoring period. The groundwater extraction and treatment system has extracted
and treated 16,849,836 gallons of groundwater since it was placed in operation in January 1998.
The treatment system removal efficiency was greater than 95% (see Tables 2 and 3).

Pumping of extraction well RT-PW-01 continues to fulfill the closed -loop requirement of the
Site Groundwater Remediation Permit. One upgradient well, MW-1 (RT-MW-12), and two
sidegradient wells, MW-2 and MW-3 (05-MW-01 and RT-MW-05, respectively), were sampled
in December 2007. Each groundwater sample was analyzed for TCL pesticides. Analytical
results are summarized in Table 4. Copies of the analytical reports are included with the
completed GW-59 forms provided as attachments.
Information provided in the Attachment to this submittal is intended to fulfill the annual
reporting requirements described in Section IV, items 1 - 4 and 13, of the Site Groundwater
Remediation Permit issued January 25, 2007.
If you require additional copies of the enclosed materials or have any questions, please contact
me at (864) 527-4756.
Sincerely,
URS Corporation
