HomeMy WebLinkAboutJordan Lake Solarbee FONSI Public Notice EMI US Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District CESAW-OP-LP July 10,2014 PUBLIC NOTICE AND NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT A DEMONSTRATION PROJECT SHOWING THE IMPACT OF FLOATING IN-LAKE LONG-DISTANCE CIRCULATORS IN B.E.JORDAN LAKE The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, Wilmington, North Carolina has prepared the Finding of No Significant Impact(FONSI) for A Demonstration Project Showing the Impact of Floating In-Lake Long-Distance Circulators in B.E. Jordan Lake, dated July 2014. An electronic version of this FONSI is available on the USACE, Wilmington District website at: htip://www.saw.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakesandDams/BEverettJordan.aspx The Environmental Assessment (EA) for A Demonstration Project Showing the Impact of Floating In- Lake Long-Distance Circulators in B.E. Jordan Lake, March 2014 was prepared and made available to the public for review and comment in March 2014. This action addresses a request for a proposed 24-month demonstration project which would place a total of 36 floating solar powered in-lake long-distance circulators within Jordan Lake. The Federal action for this demonstration project is the granting of a USACE real estate license to the North Carolina Division of Water Resources (NCDWR) for placement of circulators within the Morgan Creek and Haw River Arms of Jordan Lake. The EA and FONSI address the potential environmental impacts of implementing proposed action and were prepared in accordance with the Council on Environmental Quality and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)regulations for implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 (33 CFR 230), as amended. This Notice is being distributed to notify known interested persons that the District Commander has determined that based on the information in the EA and comments received during the public review of the EA, the proposed Federal action will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and an Environmental Impact Statement will not be prepared. This completes the NEPA process for this action.
