HomeMy WebLinkAbout47_Water Quality Index Database SummaryNew WQI Database and Data Warehouse (2021) The previous WQI database was recently upgraded and improved to not only calculate the water quality index for streams but also to serve as a data warehouse for various programs. The database is used for the following: • Stream monitoring data (past ambient data, current fixed interval data, water quality index) • Macroinvertebrate data and bioclassifications • Habitat data and scores • QAQC data • Follow-up sampling data (fecal coliform, etc.) • Wet -weather data • Past fish data • Past lake data In addition, the database has the following features: • Stream site information • Ability to sort by watershed, stream, site, etc. • Data export based on sampling program, date, site, etc. These screenshots illustrate just a few of the capabilities and features of the database. The WQI is derived from a formula that incorporates nine (9) water quality parameters, resulting in an index value, or score, ranging from 0 to 100. Water Quality Index scores are classified as follows: 0-19 Poor 20-39 Below Average 40-59 Average 60-79 Above Average 80-100 Good The figure below represents mean WQI scores for sites within North Buffalo Creek watershed, South Buffalo Creek watershed, and the water -supply watersheds. These scores were derived from ambient water quality data collected from January 2001 to December 2019.
