This program is offered to No straw November you and your group to get involved in environ mental stewa rdshi p. Groups adopt a stream and pick up litter around the stream twice a year to reduce water pollution. The time commitment for this program is a minimum of two years. Gloves, grabbers and bags.: are provided The City will place a sign bearing your group's name along the road byyour adopted stream section. Group members will also receive a car magnet for participation. ❑nlinelF€liahle Forms Do not worry if you are not ready to adapt. Your group can try a Volunteer Application cleanup without the commitment to adopt. City Offices Closed May 30 and ]une 20 City Administrative Changes Now in Place City Manager Taiwo (Tai) ]aiyeoba recently added two key roles to the City's administrative team. Chris Wilson, who served as interim city manager, is now deputy city manager and April Albritton is the City's new assistant to the city manager. Read more at www. greensboro-nc.govJAdminChanges. Partnership Created to Help Migrating Birds The City, in partnership with the T. Gilbert Pearson Audubon Society and local businesses, recently established a plan to help protect migrating birds that fly through Greensboro during the spring and fall as well as conserve energy. The program, called "Lights Out," runs annually from March 15 to May 31 and from September 10 to November 30. This voluntary initiative asks the management of tall buildings and large facilities in Greensboro to turn off or block as many external and internal building lights as possible from 11 pm to b am during those dates. First, it received its re -accreditation from the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) as an Accredited Center for Emergency (ACE) Medical Dispatch. This is GM911's fifth re -accreditation and makes it the world's 134th medical ACE. IAED also re -accredited GM911 for sixth time as an Accredited Center for Emergency (ACE) Fire Dispatch. GM911 Executive Director Melanie Neal has completed the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials' Certified Public Safety Executive Program (CPE). She joins 171 CPEs in the world and only six in NC. City Brings Artists to Downtown Creative Greensboro recently selected work from 10 artists to feature on downtown digital kiosks through ]anuary 2023. Each artist received a $500 honorarium and will be featured on Creative Greensboro's website. On the right is "Mama Braiding," a mixed media work by Kym Cooper, one of the artists. Fall Recreation Sports Registration Begins in June Fall may seem a long time from now, but registration for Parks and Recreation fall sports leagues begin in June. The permit was Stormwater Management renewed on October 10, 2018 and remains effective for a five-year period. Plan The City of Greensboro Stormwater Management Division developed a Stormwater Management Pollution Prevention Plan to document the program measures being implemented to comply with the City's permit. The City's Stormwater Management Plan and State NPDES permit are available upon request by calling Stormwater Management Division at 336-373-2055.
