The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is the lead federal agency for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and a Permit is anticipated under the Section 404 Process with the USACE. The project vicinity map is attached. The coordinates of this project are approximately Lat. 36.422179° Long. -76.34746°. This project was reviewed for cultural resources by NCDOT under the terms of the Programmatic Agreement Among the Federal Highway Administration, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and the North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office for Minor Transportation Projects in North Carolina (PA). Please find the attached Archaeological Report. An Archaeological Survey was not required for this project. Please respond by July 14, 2022 so that your comments can be used in the scoping of this project.
