Please summarize any findings resulting from this review: The permittee has been taking actions to reduce levels
of nitrate in downgradient wells including the replacement of the domestic wastewater system, relocation of some
monitoring wells and remedial actions to some of the fields. One upgradient well is showing impacts from an
unknown source. While the Division will continue to monitor and evaluate these groundwater exceedances, the
permittee will need also need to continue to be aware of Nitrogen within the effluent of the industrial wastewater
system and PAN loading to the application fields. Proposed modification should increase efficiency of the DAF
and the WWTF.

Butterball, LLC is requesting a permit modification for the installation of a secondary equalization tank to
improve performance of the downstream dissolved air floatation (DAF) system. The efficiency of the
wastewater process should be improved by decreasing the flow variability to provide optimal DAF
performance No increase in flow to the receiving lagoons or loading to land application fields will result
from this modification.
After review of the application and supporting documents, the WiRO has no objection to the proposed
modification.
