The station currently has four pumps in operation, and operates as two duplex pumping systems with parallel, isolated force mains. Each pair of pumps consists of 800 GPM (50-HP) and 1,400 GPM (100-HP) pumps. Please refer to WQ0040210, issued in August, 2018, for additional information on the most recent improvements to the station and its current operating conditions. Salisbury -Rowan Utilities (SRU) has received Flow Tracking/Acceptance requests for proposed developments tributary to Crane Creek LS, requiring additional firm capacity. The station's current firm capacity with the above -described operations is 2,200 GPM (a single 800-GPM pump in one force main in addition to a 1,400-GPM pump into the other). At Salisbury -Rowan Utilities' request, we have evaluated the possibility of procuring additional capacity by opening the plug valve isolating the two force mains, allowing each pump to discharge into both force mains. We have calculated the expected capacities of each pump and proposed combination of pumps into the proposed system, then performed drawdown tests to confirm the theoretical capacities. Based on these calculations and field test verifications, we are requesting that Crane Creek LS be re -rated to a firm capacity of 2,450 GPM. Upon confirmation that the re -rating of Crane Creek LS is approved, SRU will open the plug valve on the discharge header (indicated on the attached sketch). No other construction or operational modifications are proposed at this time. Additional upgrades are planned in the near future to further increase the station's firm capacity. Any tributary flows will be permitted separately. Along with an application fee check in the amount of $480.00, please find enclosed two copies each of the following documents for review and approval: • Cover Letter • Fast -Track Application Form • USGS Topo Map • Sketch 1— Proposed Valve Opening • Drawdown Test Results for Firm Capacity Scenario (50-HP Pump + 100-HP Pump) Engineering is our profession.
