Brad and Hannah,
Please see the below email regarding losses at Brunswick Bridge 57 which were also a result of over
3 inches of rain in Brunswick County on Friday night. Sediment apparently found it’s way through
holes in the silt fence into the jurisdictional ditch which we will be relocating with the project. I am
sure the holes in the silt fence are attributable to the extensive mulching operations that we have
seen at the site. I spoke to the inspector and they have already removed the deposits with hand
tools and repaired the damaged sections of silt fence. At least this is an area we are permitted for
impacts. I have a few staff out sick with COVID so I wasn’t able to get anyone down there today but
we will have someone get eyes on tomorrow to double check the rest of the measures and make
sure everything looks ok.
Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.
Thanks,

Subject: Sediment Losses on B-5624
Good Afternoon Sean,
Following up from our phone conversation, we had 2 sediment losses on B-5624 as a result of the
rain that took place over the weekend. These losses occurred at STA 13+25 and 14+50 on the South
Side of NC 211, and both losses resulted in sediment going into the existing lateral creek. These
losses occurred as a result of holes in their silt fence, which has been repaired today. As discussed,
Tara Group is removing the sediment with hand tools, while limiting turbidity in the stream. Zach
estimated that both of these losses were right around 5 gallons. Let me know if you have any
questions or need any additional information.
