SUBJECT: Compliance Evaluation Inspection
Single Family Residence Wastewater Irrigation System
Permit No. WQ0009619
Yadkin County
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brown:
On June 3, 2022, Division of Water Resources staff Caitlin Caudle conducted a
compliance evaluation inspection. Kyle Brown, owner, was present during the entire
inspection. A review of records, irrigation fields, and treatment facilities was completed.
This review mostly reflected compliance with the subject permit. The following items of
concern were noted:
A. Per Permit Condition V.2 "... the Permittee shall maintain an inspection log..."
The system was very well maintained, and Mr. Brown stated the system is checked
daily. Receipts for all parts purchased were available. Ms. Caudle recommended
that Mr. Brown maintain an inspection log, as well as all receipts, of all major events
such as yearly drip line repairs in the winter, valve repairs, or filter disc cleanings.
B. Per Permit Condition 111.11 "pump tanks shall have audible and visual alarms
external to any structure." A visual alarm is present at this system, but the bulb
was not working. Mr. Brown has a replacement bulb on site. Please replace this
bulb as soon as possible.

completed. This review mostly reflected compliance with the subject permit. The following items of concern were noted:
A. Per Permit Condition V.2 "... the Permittee shall maintain an inspection log..." The system was very well maintained,

B. Per Permit Condition 111.11 "pump tanks shall have audible and visual alarms external to any structure." A visual alarm is
present at this system, but the bulb was not working. Mr. Brown has a replacement bulb on site. Please replace this bulb as
soon as possible.
Other observations:
• A generator is available in case of a power outage.
• A septic tank pumping receipt was not available at the time of inspection. Mr. Brown stated that the septic tank was
pumped January 2019.
• The septic tank does not have a filter, but does have a sanitary T.
• The sand filter automatically dosed while on site.
• Only one pump is used for the system.
• A low water float, dosing float, and a highwater float are present.
• All treatment units (sand filters) are above ground.
• The system was originally permitted September 30, 1994. A fence was not required at this point. Signs are posted
around the disposal area.
• There is a well on the property inside the compliance boundary (property line) but the well is at least 500 ft from the
disposal area.
