Dear Ms. Powell,
On May 25, 2022, the Town of Harrisburg (the Town) received the findings of the North Carolina
Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) audit of our Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4)
Permit. Staff acknowledges that the audit identified minor deficiencies with the specific components of
the MS4 permit that were reviewed, as provided in the audit report. The Town will work diligently over
the coming months to self -evaluate the permit components that were not reviewed, finalize the Town's
Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP), submit all applicable NPDES MS4 permit applications, and
respond to comments on the Final SWMP. We understand that failure to meet these requirements are
subject to enforcement per our permit.
