Subject: 109 Beaver Pine Way
Good evening!
I am beginning my review of your project, and I need some more information:
1) Are you proposing metal or PVC gabion baskets?
2) Is the geotextile fabric plastic? Generally, erosion control matting that incorporates plastic mesh or plastic twine
should not be used along streambanks, but natural fabric options are available.
3) My understanding based on my site visit last year is that of the impacts below, S1 is for the spillway and S3 & S4
are for the (perennial, not intermittent) stream behind your property.
a. Is this correct? If so, S1 may be a buffer impact, not a stream impact.
b. I'm a little unclear on S2. Is this occurring in the spillway or in the streambank behind your home where
the fence is?

4) In the project description, you mention that you will excavate dirt/gravel/soil from the streambank and then use
it for fill in the backyard. This also sounds like a buffer impact. Is this fill going into the gabion baskets or in your
backyard (house side of your fence)? Are you using it to backfill the area that eroded away? If it is going in the
yard, I will need an approximate square footage of yard that you plan to place fill in.
5) I don't see the gabion baskets listed as an impact. What length of stream are you proposing to impact with the
baskets?
6) Is the excavator going in the stream or is it just in the spillway and in your yard?
7) The permit that you have applied for coverage under was recently updated, and unfortunately, this activity now
requires a 30-day public notice period. The good news is that it has already been placed on Public Notice, which
ends April 5th. Unfortunately, I cannot issue a permit before the public notice period is over. I apologize for the
delay and thank you for your patience and understanding!
Thank you!
