Subject: [EXTERNAL] public comment about Jordan Lake
I am opposed to suspending the rules meant to reduce pollution from entering Jordan Lake.
This suspension is purely about money and has nothing to do with cleaning up Jordan Lake. These rules, negotiated over
years, would have reduced pollution from entering the lake. The suspension of these rules has been done purely to
increase the profits for developers, and to allow upsteam cities to avoid making the necessary investments in treatment
plants to reduce pollution.
I am also opposed to installing the circulators in the lake. Seems to me these circulators will circulate polluted water, and
provide a false sense that something is being done to reduce pollution. They will provide cover for further delaying or
eliminating the necessary rules for reducing pollutants entering the lake.
Jordan Lake is the source for drinking water for at least 250,000 people. The lake is also a popular recreation location. I
urge you to insist that the rules to reduce pollutants from entering Jordan Lake be enforced.
