I see it as a waste of taxpayer dollars if nothing is done to control the pollutants already entering the lake. As an example, let me make reference to the sewage spill that occurred this past winter from Burlington. Secondly, we all know how important it is for many homeowners to have the greenest lawns in the neighborhood, and when it rains, where does all the runoff go? Down stream of course. Just watch TV and count how many commercials you see for Scotts lawn care products. Tell me that high nitrogen fertilizers and sewage don't contribute to algae growth. Take a drive up Hwy 751 and when you cross over the bridge at the Northeast end of the lake and see all the silt suspended in the water, ask why that issue isn't properly being addressed also as a pollutant. The public needs to be educated and stiff penalties need to be imposed on those who pollute. Stirring up the lake with a few large egg beaters is not the answer to addressing the algae blooms in Lake Jordan. It's only a Band Aid that makes someone feel that they are being effective in addressing the pollution issue. Thanks for reading my comment. Robert Bergmueller resident of Chatham County
