Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District Mr. Justin Bashaw, Dear Mr. Bashaw, I am hoping you will help us. My brother was with the corps of engineers and I marred one and I have a great deal of respect for the Army Corps of Engineers. I hope you can help us, because we, in the central part of the state are in dire straights. We have to deal with Duke Powers' ash pits, the hog lagoons and the obscene cuts to the protection agencies, now we face threats from Jordan Lake. I urge you to please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. The federal Clean Water Act requires that pollution be treated at the source of the problem, not downstream in public waters. By employing floating mixers (known as SolarBees) downstream in Jordan Lake the state is not complying with federal law. This is unacceptable! Jordan Lake is plagued by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from upstream sources and these unproven floating mixers do not treat that. When these mixers fail to do their job, the condition of Jordan Lake will be worse than ever. Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. Thank you. Sincerely, Rebecca Powers 3608 E.
