Subject: [EXTERNAL] SolarBees on Jordan Lake
Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District Mr. Justin Bashaw,
I am writing to you today to oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. There is no evidence that these poorly -
conceived floating mixers will clean up the pollution. Jordan Lake is plagued by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from
upstream sources and these mixers do not treat that type of pollution. When these mixers fail to do their job, the
condition of Jordan Lake will be worse than ever.
I enjoy kayaking on Jordan Lake, but the pollution has always been an issue. During the summer months I have seen a
number of fish kills; most of my kayak partners will not consider swimming in Jordan.
Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake, and instead encourage /demand real clean up of Jordan Lake that
was stopped by eliminating the recently developed regulations.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mary Lucas
