[EXTERNAL] Jordan Lake cleanup
Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District Mr. Justin Bashaw,
I am writing to you today to oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. There is no evidence that these poorly -
conceived floating mixers will clean up the pollution. Jordan Lake is plagued by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from
upstream sources and these mixers do not treat that type of pollution. When these mixers fail to do their job, the
condition of Jordan Lake will be worse than ever.
As a fellow engineer, I understand that the best way to solve a problem is to identify the root cause. The state of North
Carolina needs to address the root cause of the pollution problem, and the SolarBees do not do that. Thank you for your
assistance in helping our state address the Jordan Lake problem with sound science instead of an earmarked solution
provided by lobbyists.
Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mark Otten
