Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District Mr. Justin Bashaw, I urge you to please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. Many people rely on the water in Jordan lake, and they also rely on the Corps to manage Jordan Lake with the water needs of the Triangle in mind. Choosing to use SolarBees rather than cleaning up the pollutants that flow into Jordan Lake is not in the best interest of those who drink the water from Jordan Lake. The federal Clean Water Act requires that pollution be treated at the source of the problem, not downstream in public waters. By employing floating mixers (known as SolarBees) downstream in Jordan Lake the state is not complying with federal law. This is unacceptable! Jordan Lake is plagued by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from upstream sources and these unproven floating mixers do not treat that. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Relying on unproven technology to mask the problem is not an ounce of prevention nor a pound of cure. Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. Thank you. Sincerely, Marguerite Silver 1025 Harvey St Raleigh, 27608
