Subject: [EXTERNAL] Jordan Lake - Fixing pollution at its source
Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District Mr. Justin Bashaw,
I am writing to you today to oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. There is no evidence that these poorly -
conceived floating mixers will clean up the pollution. They are a hazard to water enthusiasts. Jordan Lake is plagued by
nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from upstream sources and these mixers do not treat that type of pollution. Cleaning
up pollution (usually at the taxpayers expense) is 100s to 1000s of times more expensive than preventing the pollution
to begin with. Please work to solve the problem and not cover up the symptoms.
Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kevin Gedney
