[EXTERNAL] No SolarBees on Jordan Lake, Please
Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District Mr. Justin Bashaw,
We feel really strongly that the SolarBees are wrong for protecting Jordan Lake and the watershed. Please move
forward with promised controls of runoff from new and existing development, and upgrades to upstream wastewater
treatment plants, NOT by employing unproven floating mixers in the lake.
We, as taxpayers, are insulted that the legislature has earmarked $1.65 million for the SolarBee project in a no -bid
contract, essentially giving a check to the company that makes the mixers without first knowing whether the SolarBees
work. This means no competition and no serious evaluation of whether this technology will work on Jordan Lake.
We care deeply about Jordan Lake. I, my husband, and my daughter love the lake and its natural beauty and worry that
the SolarBees project will delay real pollution controls and harm the wild life that is dependent on the lake.
Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Bobrowski
