SolarBees are the wrong solution for a problem with upstream origins. The federal Clean Water Act requires that pollution be treated at the source of the problem, not downstream in public waters. Upstream communities may resist imposition of regulations to clean up water flowing into the lake, but such regulation would be far more effective in improving water quality in Jordan Lake. By employing floating mixers (known as SolarBees) downstream in Jordan Lake the state is not complying with federal law. This is unacceptable! Jordan Lake is plagued by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from upstream sources and these unproven floating mixers do not treat that. When these mixers fail to do their job, the condition of Jordan Lake will be worse than ever. Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. Thank you. Sincerely, Karen Polk 909 W Lenoir Street Raleigh, NC 27603
