Subject: [EXTERNAL] Jordan Lake circulatory
Dear Mr. Bashaw, I am a resident of Chapel Hill less than 1 mile from our imperiled Jordan Lake. These
circulators, while treating the symptom of algae bloom is a good try, it doesn't get to the cause of the disease.
The cause of oxygen depletion is inappropriate runoff containing various fertilizers high in nitrogen from
industry and home owners. Somebody in the shadows is benefiting from this preposterous and ineffective
stop -gap for an ongoing problem. I am exasperated that this silly "solution" is even being entertained. Forget
the circulators and concentrate on a mission to subdue and eventually stop harmful nitrogen rich fertilizers
from getting into our waters in the first place. Sincerely, Jeffrey Napoli
