As a small business owner dependent on attracting healthy growth in our region - much of which is attributable to clean water and natural resources - for the success of my business and many others, I would urge you to consider the following points: • The mixers will not cleanup the pollution running into the lake from upstream, but rather just suppress the algae within the lake. When the mixers are removed the algae will return and the pollution will be worse than ever, because towns are not cleaning up their pollution. • There is little to no evidence that these mixers will be successful. SolarBee has only been tested in small bodies of water, not large lakes like Jordan. A recent test of SolarBee in Cabarrus County, NC did not result in restored water quality. • The mixers will create safety hazards to boaters and recreational users. Since the mixers sit low in the water and have no visible lighting, boats could easily collide with the equipment, potentially in a life - threatening manner. • The Clean Water Act requires water pollutants to be controlled at their source. In order to truly clean the lake, the Jordan Lake rules need to be implemented immediately! Thank you, j sl. J. Scott Lane, Owner/Manager J S Lane Company, LLC
