Subject: [EXTERNAL] Please disallow a problematic Jordan Lake NC proposal
Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District Mr. Justin Bashaw,
I urge you to please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. The federal Clean Water Act requires that pollution be
treated at the source of the problem, not downstream in public waters. By proposing to employ floating mixers (known
as SolarBees) downstream in Jordan Lake the state is not complying with federal law, or properly addressing the
problems. This is unacceptable!
Jordan Lake is plagued by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from upstream sources and these unproven floating mixers
do not treat that. When these mixers prove ineffective, the condition of Jordan Lake will continue to degrade.
Please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake.
