The proposal for solar - powered circulators (called SolarBees) or any circulators that would treat the symptoms of water pollution in the lake are not the answer to poor water quality. The federal Clean Water Act requires that pollution be treated at the source of the problem, not downstream in public waters. By employing floating mixers (SolarBees) downstream in Jordan Lake, the state is not complying with federal law. This is unacceptable! Jordan Lake is plagued by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from upstream sources. Floating mixers do not treat that. When these mixers fail to do their job, the condition of Jordan Lake will be worse than ever. Moreover, the mixers, which will float at the surface of the water, will be a significant hazard for boaters and others using the lake for recreation. Jordan Lake attracts people from all over the state who visit the site for motor boating, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. Floating mixers will be a considerable safety risk to thousands of people. Please support the No Action Alternative for Jordan Lake. Thank you. Sincerely, Caitlin Burke 103 Ashtree Ct Cary, NC 27519
