North Carolina needs to move forward with the promised controls of runoff from new and existing development, and upgrades to upstream wastewater treatment plants, NOT by employing unproven floating mixers in the lake. The $1.65 million state earmark that funded the SolarBee project created a single - source, no -bid contract that funnels money to the company that makes the mixers. This means no competition and no serious evaluation of whether this technology will work on Jordan Lake. It's just another way for lawmakers to delay real pollution controls on this beautiful lake. In 2001, my partner Mike built a beautiful, small log cabin from a tobacco barn on a tiny creek that backs up to the USArmy Corps watershed zone. I hope we can afford to retire and move there within the next 10 years. We love the life we've built at this home with our garden and the deer, turkeys, foxes, ospreys, raccoons, and other wildlife that make Jordan Lake their home. Over the years we've driven less than 5 miles and paid money in order to camp out at all of the campgrounds on lake -just for a different perspective of this unique and beautiful envoronment. However, you know that Jordan Lake is in real trouble when you hike the water's edge and see the sludge and trash that are choking the water. The scope of the problem requires comprehensive and proven strategies to control and correct decades of neglect and abuse of these waters. I urge you to please oppose the use of SolarBees on Jordan Lake. Thank you. Sincerely, Anne Braswell 1605 S. Wade Avenue Garner, NC 27529
