Subject: [EXTERNAL] Solar Bees in Jordan Lake
Dear Mr. Bashaw:
My husband and I are residents of Chatham County, NC, and are both frequent visitors to Jordan Lake, and we are
writing to ask that you do not allow the placement of any Solar Bee apparatuses in Jordan Lake.
We were both trained as wildlife biologists, and feel this technology will be ineffective at controlling pollution in Jordan.
The small number of small devices proposed cannot possibly stir water sufficiently to diminish algae in a lake this size.
The Solar Bee rides low in the water and will be difficult for boaters to see,so crashes will occur. When boats run into
them, that means more trash in the lake, as well.
The greatest argument against allowing Solar Bees in Jordan Lake is that The Clean Water Act mandates that pollution
be stopped at its source, not its end point. The Solar Bee does not stop or decrease or diminish ongoing pollution of
Jordan Lake in any way, and we ask that you please deny the permit for their placement in Jordan Lake.
Sincerely,
Alicia Berry
