As you are aware, Lake Jordan is the primary source of drinking water for more than 300,000 residents in the Triangle. The Solar Bee is not the answer to reduce the nutrient pollution problem flowing into Jordan Lake. These Solar Bees do not treat nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from upstream. The failure to responsibly address this problem jeopardizes the public health of the residents of NC. Hans Paerl, Kenan Professor of Marine and Environmental Science at the UNC- Chapel Hill Institute of Marine Sciences, has stated publicly that the proposal for mixing as a solution for Jordan Lake is an experiment and not based on historic data and a long -term, deliberate process. Not only are we jeopardizing the public health of our residents but we are also creating dangerous situations for boaters, water skiers and jet skiers. Someone traveling fast enough could crash into the Solar Bees and become seriously injured. Please do not allow the use of Solar Bees on Lake Jordan, NC. Yours sincerely, Al Goshaw A. T.
