Cape Fear Steam Electric Plant NPDE S Permit NC0003433 NPDES Permit Update—Transfer of Water Between Basins Dear Dr. Chernikov: Duke Energy Progress, LLC. (Duke Energy) is submitting this letter to update the current permit application on file to include transfer of water from the 1970 inactive basin to outfall 008. Historically, Duke Energy has been allowed to move water from basin to basin to help in the facilitation of the dewatering process. The proposed route for dewatering of the 1970 inactive basin uses this basin to basin approach. The water in the 1970 basin will be transferred to the 1978 basin and discharged to the Cape Fear River via Outfall 008 (see attached water transfer route). Duke Energy will adhere to the effluent conditions and monitoring requirements in permit Condition A (5) -Outfall 008 (dewatering) and requests that submittal of this letter meet the requirement for application file update and permit modification not be required. If there are any questions regarding this letter, please contact Joyce Dishmon via phone at (336) 623-0238 or via email at joyce.dishmon@duke-energy.com.
