This looks good for the sediment pond/ditch encroachment area, but I wanted to reiterate to please give DMS and KCI a few days heads up to ensure we can be there. There is also an area on the corner of that crossing that needs a few trees since heavy equipment ran over a small area there, and we can ensure that while we are out. I appreciate the fencing installed on the other encroachment area on the other end of the stream. I also want to point out that these crossing elevations on this sheet are 1-2’ below the as-built elevations provided by KCI when they restored the stream. As we discussed before, this presents a real issue for up-stream stability on a stream this size, but also a safety concern for residential access. We understand that the developer will be working with you to move the headwall out of the easement and get that crossing installed to engineered design during the dry season. Please keep us posted on that progress or how you plan to proceed. All of you please review and make modifications suggestions etc. I will of course let you know when this work begins, Its my understanding KCI will supervise and direct the work a long with DMS. I've been out of this for a while and I didn't spec the weight of the matting, or the number of live stakes. This should be determined by your personnel before construction and the number and quality of live stakes can be harvested on site and approved by you also. I went with an Ernst wetland seed mix since its so small area and it will be easier to get the proper amount of seeds. As you will see the PLS calculated a disturbed area of 1055 sqft. at 6'x6' spacing I can up with 29 trees. This sounds like to many trees let me know your thoughts. I appreciate all of your patience. I'll wait to hear back your comments on everything. thanks Wyatt On Fri, Mar 11, 2022 at 9:00 AM Crocker, Lindsay <Lindsay.Crocker@ncdenr.gov > wrote: Wyatt, I’ve highlighted the trees that are part of the planting plan. I would get all of these and make up the difference in numbers with the remaining bald cypress (I am not sure how many trees you settled on). I think Kevin and/or some one from KCI or DMS would like to be invited when the grading occurs and these are planted, hopefully in the next week or two (we are running out of time). Try to put the cypress closer to the stream if possible and mix them all up. Kevin, do you have any other thoughts? Copying Adam since Tim M. has left to put him in loop. Lindsay, Kevin I never worked with tree planting or availability when I was at EEP, I had no idea trees would be hard to get. Please see the attached tree list, you were correct trees are scarce. I assume a 3 gallon would equal a 3 year old tree? Please tell me if the attached list is sufficient to pick from. If we can’t get what we need I recommend KCI planting the trees in the fall and bill the developer. Thanks Wyatt Wyatt Brown, LSS, CPESC Pres., Brown's Environmental Group, Inc.
