State project BP3.R004 involves the replacement of Bridge #090181 on Old Fayetteville Rd. (SR 1437) over Sturgeon Creek in Brunswick County. The existing bridge consists of a 1 @ 15' - 7", 1 @ 14'-11", 1 @ 15'-9" reinforced concrete bridge on timber joists and piers. It is to be replaced with a 1 @ 70' - 0", 24" cored slab bridge (70' total length, 42' total width) at the same location. The propsoed bridge does not contain deck drains. All stormwater from the bridge and approaches will be collected by storm drainage systems in all four quadrants of the bridge into wetlands with Class-B riprap pads at outlet to minimize impacts. Proposed design included a channel change to mimic existing drainage pattern. 343 E.
