Ross Jr., Secretary North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources April 3, 2003 Subject: Neuse River Basin Riparian Buffer Rules NBR 03 -076 Winslow Property @ West Lake Wake County Dear Mr. Stewart: Alan W. Klimek, P.E. Director Division of Water Quality I have reviewed the information submitted for the project referenced by the Raleigh Regional Office as NBR 03 -076. An evaluation of the streams present on the property was performed on February 6, 2003 to determine whether or not the site would require compliance with the Neuse Buffer Rules. ( Neuse River Basin: Nutrient Sensitive Waters Management Strategy; Protection and Maintenance of Existing Riparian Areas, Administrative Code 15A:2B.0233.) The features represented on the Wake County Soils and the Holly Springs USGS topographic maps were evaluated to determine their subjectivity to the Rule. It was determined that Camp Branch is the main stream feature depicted on both maps along the western property edge. Numerous other features are depicted within the property boundaries. As a result of the site visit, the features that are streams and subject to protection under the Rule, have been highlighted on the attached map. This letter addresses only those issues involving the riparian area. For information relative to water quality permitting, 401/404, buffer impacts, or wetland issues, please contact Mr. John Dorney at 919 - 733 -1786. Thank you for your attention to this matter and if this Office can be of any other assistance or if you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 919 - 571 -4700.
