SUBJECT: CAMA/DREDGE & FILL Permit Application Review
Applicant: NC State Ports Authority (Southern and Northern barge fleeting area project)
Project Location: Carteret County. Along the existing barge fleeting area (southern) adjacent to
the NC Ports Authority property near Radio Island and along Marsh Island
(northern) within the Newport RiverBogue Sound area.
Proposed Project: Proposes two barge fleeting areas. The proposal consists of the
reconfiguration of the southern barge fleeting area. The number of barges
capable of being moored in the southern area will be reduced from 45 to a
total of 9. The northern area would be configured for a maximum of four of
the larger (53' X 2601) barges or six of the smaller (35' X 20011) barges.
