The wastewater treatment plant is permitted for .84 MGD (built for 1.2 Mgd). The plant is an extended aeration
system with dual oxidation ditches running in series, two final clarifiers and chlorine disinfection. The sewer
collection system is comprised of 6", 8" 10" 15" 18" and 21" clay, cast iron, and pvc sewer piping. The piping
system is predominately 6" and 8" diameter pipe with brick and precast manholes. The Town of Troy owns a sewer
jet machine capable of washing 600 L.F. of sew collection pipe.
H. Performance
System Performance from July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT:
The WWTP has performed essentially to the standards of a plant with sand filtration installed after final
clarification. NPDES monitored pollutants have been discharged well below permitted limits. The plant has had no
spills and only two notice of violations. The November NOV was for testing frequency during last winter's snow
storm and the January cyanide was due in total to the EPA's unrealistic testing criteria for cyanide as is well known
throughout the wastewater industry.
