I. General Information

Description of Treatment Process and Collection System:
The wastewater treatment plant is permitted for 1.2 MGD. The plant is an extended aeration system
with dual oxidation ditches running in series -two final clarifiers and ultraviolet disinfection.- The sewer
collection system is comprised of 6" 8" 10" 15" 18" and 21" clay cast iron and PVC sewer piping.
The piping system is predominately 6" and 8" diameter pipe with brick and pre -cast manholes.
The Town Of Troy owns a sewer jet machine capable of washing 600 L.F. of sewer collection pip
II. Performance
Wastewater Treatment Plant
The average daily flow from the WWTP was .506 MGD. A pass thru event in April 2016 due to
equipment failure at the Uwharrie Environmental Landfill resulted in 4 permit violations at the
Troy WWTP. The violations were as follows: 2 BOD violations weekly average exceeded;
1 BOD violation monthly average exceeded; 1 Coliform, Fecal weekly geometric mean exceeded.
72 dry tons of solids were removed and transported to Uwharrie Environmental Landfill.
Sewer Collection System
Public Services Dept. reported that contractors working on Hwy. 24/27 improvements ruptured a 6"
force main vicinity of Alexander Rd. causing an estimated spill of 10,800 gals of untreated sewer. The
spill was contained in a ditch, then pumped and hauled; contaminated soil was removed and disposed
of. No untreated sewer reached surface waters. The PS Dept. cleaned 25,800 ft of sewer line.
III. Notification
This report will be put on public display_at the Troy Town Hall. Copieswill be made available to any
user or customer upon request. Notice of the availability of the report will be placed in the April water
billing.
IV. Certification
I certify under penalty of law that this report is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I
further certify that this report will be made available to the users or customers of the Town of Troy
system and that those users will be notified of its availability
