HomeMy WebLinkAboutWQCS00352_2009-2010 Annual Performance Report_20100727HOKE COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS 2009-2010 WASTEWATER COLLECTIONS SYSTEM ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT General Information Facility/System Name: Hoke County Public Works Responsible Entity: County of Hoke Person in Charge/Contact: Mike Dean 910-848-0385 Applicable Permits: WQCS00352 Description of Collections System DE JUL 282010 OIL() Hoke County Public Works' sanitary sewer collection system serves portions of Hoke County, east of Raeford along the 401 corridor. The system consists of approximately 11.6 miles of force main ranging in size from 4 to 10 inch, 23.4 miles of gravity ranging in size from 6 to 18 inch and 8 pumping stations. Wastewater is collected from 950 customers who are 100% residential/commercial and sent to PWC of Fayetteville and the City of Raeford who also are under contract for the O&M of the system. In March 2010 the collection system was expanded to include the Beaver Creek outfall, pumping station and force main. This outfall serves the Beaver Creek drainage basin from Hwy 401 to Rockfish Rd. and pumps to the City of Raeford. The O&M of the outfall, permit #WQ0033891 Modified, will be performed by Hoke County Public Works. Hoke County Public Works is currently in the permitting process for a 7.5mgd WWTF, additional outfalls and pumping stations to serve the Sewer Use Area identified in the Urban Service Area. Pending issuance of a NPDES permit and funding, construction is scheduled to begin in late 2010 or early 2011. HOKE COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS WQCS00352- SUMMARY OF COLLECTIONS SYSTEM PERFORMANCE FOR FISCAL YEAR (JULY 2009- JUNE 2010 During the Fiscal Year July 2009 — June 2010, approximately 58,000,000 gallons of wastewater was conveyed to PWC and the City of Raeford. There was one sanitary sewer overflow at a manhole near the Beaver Creek Pump Station on 5/05/10 that totaled approximately 1500 gallons. The overflow was caused by debris that was left in the line after construction. This was reported verbally to NCDWQ (Dale Lopez) on 5/05/10 and a written report was delivered to NCDWQ- Fayetteville Division on 5-07-10. The lines have since been cleaned and filmed to verify proper performance. 2009-2010 WASTEWATER COLLECTIONS SYSTEM ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT Prevention This fiscal year Hoke County Public Works made the following efforts to reduce overflows. 1. Bi-annual mailing of FOG educational material. 2. Rehabilitated manholes, cleaned and filmed lines with a potential risk for SSO'S. 3. Inspections were performed on approximately 10% of the system. Notification The report is available on the County website and at the Utilities Billing Office 910-875- 6704. A statement of availability was included on the customer's bills during the month of August. Certification I certify under penalty of law that this report is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge.
