Hoke County Public Works' sanitary sewer collection system serves portions of Hoke County,
east of Raeford along the 401 corridor. The system consists of approximately 11.6 miles of force
main ranging in size from 4 to 10 inch, 23.4 miles of gravity ranging in size from 6 to 18 inch
and 8 pumping stations.
Wastewater is collected from 1153 customers who are 100% residential/commercial and sent to
PWC of Fayetteville and the City of Raeford who also are under contract for the O&M of the
system. In March 2010 the collection system was expanded to include the Beaver Creek outfall,
pumping station and force main. This outfall serves the Beaver Creek drainage basin from Hwy
401 to Rockfish Rd. and pumps to the City of Raeford. The O&M of the outfall, permit
#WQ0033891 Modified, will be performed by Hoke County Public Works.
The proposed WWTP Project was scaled down from 2.5 mgd to 1.5 mgd to reflect more
moderate growth projections. Phase 1A of the project which includes a lift station and force main
along Johnson Mill Rd. is currently funded through grants and is in the process of being
permitted. The flow from this project will be sent to PWC of Fayetteville and is scheduled for
completion in September 2012. Phase 1B of the project will consist of the 1.5 mgd plant,
regional lift station and outfalls.
