Re: Stonmwater Sampling Results, Permit No. NCS000514, Year Six- Period 1
To Whom it May Concern:
l Attached are duplicate signed copies of the Stormwater Discharge Monitoring Results for Georgia-Pacific
Mt. Holly, LLC for Outfalls 1 and 2 as required by NPDES Permit No. NCS000514. The sampling event
was conducted on 12/29/2014, with a total rainfall amount of 0.6-inches as measured by an on -site rain
gauge. The sampling results for Outfall 001 were outside the Benchmark range for Total Suspended
Solids (TSS). All other sampling results were within the Benchmark Values for Analytical Monitoring as
specified in NCS000514, Part 11, Section B, Table 3.
As a result of exceeding the Benchmark values, the site conducted a stormwater management inspection
of the facility on 1/07/2015. The Stormwater sedimentation basin that receives stormwater and discharges
at Outfall 001 was cleaned of all trees and vegetation in the Spring/Summer of 2012 and returned to its
original design grade. It was also reseeded with fescue. Over the past year a trench has formed from the
flow of water through the bottom of the basin exposing the soil. We believe this to be the source of
elevated TSS at this outfall.
Based on this inspection, Georgia-Pacific has identified the following physical improvements to reduce
concentrations of TSS at Outfall 001 to within the Benchmark ranges:
1. Put rip rap rock in trench that was formed and to reseed with fescue, also serpentine the trench
going through the stormwater basin to slow down the force of the water so as to eliminate the
formation of a trench and exposing the soil..
Georgia-Pacific Mt Holly LLC plans to complete these physical improvements no later than 3/20/2015. If
you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at 704-812-2023.
Sincerely,
Kristi Knight,
Environmental, Health & Safety Leader
