Hey Jen,
Here's some comments to the benthos monitoring plan
-It isn't necessary to sample twice They noted that samples will be
collected in October and again in February each year. This is
redundant I would recommend that they select one season to sample
these streams and be consistent between years It would be best to
sample during the summer months (worst case conditions), but that is not
necessary.
-Have them include a map with the collection locations on it.
-I'm not sure what the health and saftey people would say about this,
but if they are to look at the effects of daylighting this stream the
first sample should be collected in the culvert (we did it)
- Mitchell and Associates are not certified to collect the samples. They
need to get someone who is (have them look at Appendix 4 of the
technical guide which is on our website) and they should also be
reminded that samples must be identified by a certified laboratoy (have
them look at Appendix 3 of the technical guide)
