Please find enclosed a copy of the Compliance Evaluation Inspection Report
for the inspection conducted on June 6, 2000.
As part of the inspection, a tour of the Wastewater Treatment Plant was
conducted. All observations and recommendations are in Part D. - Summary of
Findings/Comments of this report. Please remember it is priority to discharge a good
quality effluent which will not pose any problems to the receiving stream.

Section D: Summary of Findings/Comments:.
1. The NPDES permit was available upon request.
2. A compliance evaluation report for the period April 1999 through March 2000 revealed one
NPDES violations for this period for settable solids that occurred during March 2000.
3. Laboratory data was reviewed for the period April 1999 through March 2000. All records
corresponded with DMR reports. Records were well organized. Records were reviewed on
June 6, 2000, at the Robeson County Water Treatment Plant (Maxton site). All laboratory
data for all County water plants are kept at this site.
4. The Laboratory Supervisor at the Maxton site analyzes all NPDES permit required
parameters except Iron which is analyzed by the commercial laboratory "Aqua Tech".
5. The filter backwash waste is pumped into the equalization basin and then into a clarifier.
The backwashing of filters occurs approximately once per day. The effluent flows from the
clarifier to the discharge pipe to the receiving stream. It is recommended that a flow meter
be installed to better measure the flow through the treatment system.
6. The sludge from the clarifier is applied to the drying beds for disposal. Sludge is disposed
of through the County landfill.
7. The effluent appeared to be free of solids with some color apparent.
