Attached with this letter is a PCN concerning buffer impacts for a bridge to be constructed over
Moccasin Creek near the Town of Pine Level in Johnston County by Mr. Robert Wool, the property
owner. I discussed this project with Sara Knies, who provided some guidelines for completing the
application.

CONSTRUCTION PLAN
MOCCASIN CREEK BRIDGE
ROBERT WOOL PROPERTY
1. Lay out the boundaries for the bridge foot print on the ground including the specific location
for the concrete pads as well as the proposed channels to be cut in natural soil for the I- beams.
at the site identified on the attached sketch map.
2. Excavate the area (14'X Y X 36') for the location of the concrete support pads using small
excavator or backhoe. Remove excavated soil materials from buffer zone.
3. Pour 8" concrete pad with reinforcing rebar steel.
4. Allow to cure in the open pits for approximately 2 weeks.
S. Excavate channels in natural soil for the location of the I4muns taking care to not disturb the
soil or vegetation in the zones between I-beam channels
6. Install 14x mm using a large tracked excavator or crane if necessary. In natural soil zone back
fill void spaces of I -beams with soil material using small hand tools.
7. Use concrete to fill in between the I -beams in the area above the existing the cured concrete
pad.
8. Allow a few days for the new concrete to cure.
9. Install wooden bed for the bridge including railings (which are not shown on the attached
plan). Avoid any deposition of debris into the stream channel especially treated wood
materials. Paint of other coating should be applied before installation of wooden structural
per•
10. Contractor needs to be instructed that the stream is a protected feature and care should be
taken to avoid discharges of any un- natural materials into the channel.
