On Monday, September 20, 2021, Alex Lowe of the WSRO conducted a routine Compliance
Evaluation Inspection at 131 Vivian Lane. Permittee Mr. Phillip Stephens was present for the
inspection.
Ms. Stephens was able to provide a copy of his permit, and proof of the latest servicing of his
wastewater system (dated 1/31/2020).
Chlorination tablets were observed to be of the proper variety and were being replaced monthly into
two contact chamber tubes. Tablets were observed in the tubes at the time of visit. Mr. Lowe
suggested occasionally pushing the stack of tubes down into the effluent stream to ensure continual
chlorination as the tabs dissolve.
Mr. Stephens stated that both he and his neighbor, who share an effluent outfall, check on the outfall
once every 6-8 weeks, but have never observed effluent discharging. For that reason, they have not
been able to collect samples for annual testing.
This system appears to be in good order, and proper documentation is being retained. To fulfill
compliance expectations, Mr. Stephens should continue to attempt to gather an annual effluent
sample.
