Please accept this letter as the response to the findings from your inspection on 7/20/2021.
Comment 1, Uwharrie Environmental/Republic Services drafted a new Slug/Spill control plan and have
provided a copy that was placed in their permit file. The plan is adequate and lists all emergency contacts.
Comment 2, Uwharrie Environmental/Republic Services was issued an NOV to address the BOD monthly
average result from June 2021
Comment 3, I am currently working with Wright Foods on updating their IUP. As part of the update, a new
slug/ spill control plan will be required.
Comment 4, A copy of the consent order between the Town of Troy and Wright Foods was emailed to
Kristin Litzenberger
Also, on the cover page of your report there was a list of "issues" that were addressed in the comment
section. One of these issues wasn't listed in the comment section.
Issue 1 mentioned the detection level for Selenium and Silver. Our contract lab was notified and we we're
advised that we needed to change metals testing methods from 200.7 to 200.8 and this would give us a
lower detection limit. The next quarterly set of samples (October 2021) should use the testing method with
the lower detection limit
