You will soon be considering a request from Shoe Enterprises, Inc. of Mooresville for a m,
variance to a tract on NC 150 just outside of Mooresville. As a lifetime resident of Mooresville ani`/,
being familiar with the area, I am writing to support Mr. Shoe's request for a variance. He owned
property before the Watershed Act was passed and there were tentative plans to build on the site.

I do not believe the variance will hurt anythingd5ecause the only area affected is the imme''
property he is requesting the variance on. There is no water running onto the property from uphill
anywhere and the drainage from the property comes strictly from the property itself. The design o'
project would have all runoff from impervious areas on the site to be collected and managed in a v'•
retention pond which is designed for one and one-third times the volume required by the watershec'
regulations. This should give a safety factor and offer greater protection than required by other pr- '
under the high density option. In addition to the added protection and retention ponds, the buffer a.
designed to include optimal planning of trees, shrubs and ground cover as recommended by the Di
of Water Quality. Based on these provisions and the consideration that his proposed use of the pro- '
fits well with the development in the surrounding community, I support his request for a variance.
