1. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH TOWN OF SELMA STANDARD DETAILS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
2. ALL SIGNAGE SHALL ADHERE TO MUTCD STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
3. PRIOR TO START OF CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SCHEDULE A MEETING WITH THE TOWN'S PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT/TRANSPORTATION OPERATION DIVISION/PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO REVIEW SPECIFIC COMPONENTS OF THE PLAN
AND OPERATION OF THESE FACILITIES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A LANE CLOSURE PERMIT FOR ANY WORK WHICH REQUIRES THE CLOSURE OF A TRAVEL LANE FROM
THE NCDOT.
5. NO PLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT OR MATERIALS IS ALLOWED OUTSIDE OF THE APPROVED AREA.
6. THE SIDEWALKAND PAVEMENT SHALL BE FREE AND CLEAR OF DEBRIS AT ALL TIMES.
7. ALL SIDEWALKS ARE PUBLIC AND MUST BE ACCESSIBLE TO PEDESTRIANS WHO ARE VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND/OR PEOPLE WITH
MOBILITY DISABILITIES. EXISTING AND ALTERNATIVE PEDESTRIAN ROUTES ACCESSIBILITY GUIDELINES (PROWAG), 2010 ADA
STANDARDS FOR ACCESSIBLE DESIGN AND THE MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES (MUTCD).
8. CONSTRUCTION FENCING SHOULD NOT ENCROACH INTO PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY. IF IT DOES, IT MUST BE MOVABLE IN CASE
ADJUSTMENTS HAVE TO BE MADE. NO DRILLING, BORING OR ANY PERMANENT FASTENING OF THE FENCE IS ALLOWED IN THE PUBLIC
RIGHT OF WAY.
9. FIELD ADJUSTMENTS TO THIS PLAN MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE TOWN OF SELMA AS NEEDED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
10. ANY DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT OF WAY SHALL BE REPAIRED PER TOWN OF SELMA SPECIFICATIONS AT NO COST TO THE TOWN.
11. ACCESS TO ALL DRIVEWAYS AND SIDE STREETS SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.
12. TOWN OF SELMA MUST APPROVE THE PLANTING LIST PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
PAVEMENT MARKING & SIGNAGE NOTES
1. ALL PAVEMENT MARKINGS AND STREET SIGNAGE SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MUTCD.
2. PAVEMENT MARKINGS SHALL BE THERMOPLASTIC AND SHALL COMPLY WITH NCDOT STANDARDS AND
SPECIFICATIONS.
3. SIGNS MUST USE PRISMATIC SHEETING AND MEET THE MINIMUM RETROREFLECTIVITY LEVELS SHOWN IN THE
LATEST EDITION OF THE MUTCD. SIGNS PROVIDED FOR PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS SHALL USE THE STRONG
YELLOW -GREEN COLORING.
4. ALL SPECIALTY TRAFFIC CONTROL AND STREET NAME SIGNS AND POSTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO AND
APPROVED BY THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.
5. ALL STREET NAME SIGNS SHALL ADHERE TO THE 2009 MUTCD REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO COLOR, LETTER
CASE AND LETTER HEIGHTS. SIGN DESIGNS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO TOWN STAFF APPROVAL PRIOR TO
ACCEPTANCE OF STREETS FOR MAINTENANCE.
NOTE: PROVIDENCE BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS PERMITTED UNDER
SEPARATE SUBMISSION. PROPOSED SITE WORK, GRADING, AND
UTILITIES AS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS ASSUMES IMPROVEMENTS TO
PROVIDENCE ROAD FRONTAGE WILL BE COMPLETE PRIOR TO
COMMENCEMENT OF IMPROVEMENT SHOWN HEREIN.
