SECRETARY Re: Western Wake Freeway Temporary Impact Site #26, Wake County, WBS #35520.5.TA1, TIP No. R- 2635C, Action ID No. 2007 - 02903 -292, DWQ Project No. 20071470 Mr. Ridings: As you are aware, the Department has monitored the Western Wake Freeway Temporary Impact Site #26 since construction was completed in 2012. The site is located in Wake County adjacent to the I -540 Western Wake Freeway at approximately Sta. 672 +50. The 0.05 -acre site was monitored for temporary wetland impacts associated with the R -2635C project. In accordance with permit conditions, the area that was temporarily impacted must be monitored one year after the temporary impact is finished to ensure that it re- attains jurisdictional wetland status; hydrologic monitoring was not required for this project. After the 2012 growing season, an annual monitoring report was submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies via the Natural Environment Section's (NES) website: https: / /connect. ncdot. Qov /resources/ Environmental /Pages /Permits- and - Mitigation. gWx After one year of vegetation monitoring, the Western Wake Freeway Temporary Impact Site #26 indicates that natural re- vegetation has occurred and the temporarily impacted area has re- attained jurisdictional wetland status. NCDOT requests that the appropriate resource agencies provide written documentation stating that no further monitoring is required and that the site is closed.
